MONROE COMMUNITY COLLEGE ATHLETIC COMPLEX INCLUDING SYNTHETIC TURF FIELD Monroe Community College strives to provide a quality educational institution for Western New York residents. Parrone Engineering was commissioned by the College to assist them in the design of a new athletic complex to meet the needs of the community. Parrone was responsible for preparing a design that is in accordance with IAAF and NCAA criteria, that is player friendly with a “safety-first” design, and that is easily maintained and secured, which allowed the field to utilized for the fall sports schedule. Parrone Engineering was responsible for designing a multi-purpose field capable of withstanding unlimited playtime. This was difficult as the existing soils were a tight, clay-type soil that didn’t drain well. The firm also designed a lighting system for nighttime play, a press box and bleacher system, and a first-class practice field to the east of the main field. The master plan reserved space for a future field house to blend seamlessly with the multi-purpose field.
